A current Los Padres National Forest closure order still affects specific routes in the Santa Barbara Ranger District, including portions of Old Romero Road, Arroyo Burro Trail, and the backside of Tunnel Trail.
• Summer Hiking: Start early. Many Front Country trails become hot and exposed as the day goes on, particularly routes that climb high into the Santa Ynez Mountains.
• Waterfall Hiking: Seven Falls and other seasonal waterfalls are generally most impressive after Santa Barbara receives significant winter or spring rain. Seven Falls also involves creek crossings and scrambling, so conditions matter.
